Our First Family Heirloom

My dear friend Mandy asked me if I would sit for her so that she could paint me with Georgia Kelley.  She is  entering it in a contest and needed a real life model. Of course this is never anything I would do on my own or could afford but, I was beyond honored at the opportunity!   I am so proud of this painting! I have decided that it is the only material thing that I would ever run after if our house was on fire!  We are getting  replicas for my mom and grandmother. You won't even be able to tell it is not the original!  I have to say this is one of the coolest gifts I have ever been given.    It is not completely finished.  I wrote a life letter to Georgia Kelley and Mandy is going to write it in a light color in the background.  You will have to look close to see it.  I wrote the letter in like thirty minutes and it turned out being a long list of advice! When I get back to her studio, I will take more picture of it. When she finished I told her I didn't think it looked like me; me in the painting is  much prettier than me in real life!
We spent about 15 hours in her studio and had so much fun!  We ate three nights of Table Mesa and had a ball! Mandy is a very quiet spirit with a Godly heart! I have always enjoyed our time together and I love her even more after our time together! And if you know me, then you realize that she had to be a patient person to finish this painting since sitting still is not my strong point!  How do you say thank you for creating a family heirloom!
This picture is from my Iphone; I will post more pictures later!

What? Huh?

A bit shocked, a bit disappointed, a bit excited, and a bit numb.
Harry has said "what" for the last 4 or so months and it has been driving me crazy.  Chad and I have just assumed he just doesn't pay attention or it is habit.  Two weeks ago I just out of the blue(AKA God) thought I may get his ears checked just in case there could be a problem.  I really thought I would go into the CCD and they would tell me I just had a three year old boy who is too involved in other things and doesn't want to listen to his mama!  Well, I was wrong!  Dr. Black told me that his left ear has so much fluid that iti s like he hears underwater.  He said Harry has a significant amount of hearing loss in his left ear and some in is right ear.  I would never had know if I didn't just get this hunch from God to have him get a test. Dr. Black also tested Harry and said he has learned to read lips.  Chad told me that a few days ago and I did not believe him!  I just thought it was normal.  I also look back and notice other things, like how Harry sits when I read to him.  He has his ear right to my mouth looking out.  God is good, all Harry has to do is go through a little procedure of getting tubes and then they are going to take out his adenoids.  We have been down this road before and I feel so blessed to know that he can be free from hearing loss in a little over a week!  I think I am just more annoyed at myself for not noticing this sooner.

Georgia Kelley is 4 Months Old

Our little baby is four months.  Does this mean she isn't an "infant" anymore? At her four month appointment she was  25 and 1/2 inches putting her in the 75th percentile in height! She weighed 13 lbs 11oz, putting her i nteh 50th percentile in weight. One of the big things we have noticed about her is how much she loves Harry!  If she is in her bouncer and he walks behind her she will do a 180 to see him! Harry is doing stretching exercises with her as I write this!

In yoga class this morning they told us to find a vocal point, which could be a verse, special place or something that brings us joy or calmness.  Can you guess what my special picture that brings me joy and always makes me smile?  This little smiling face!I have nothing but, love for this picture!

Harryism and Mommyisms

After praying:
"God made me Mommy!"
"God gave me to you?"
The way he said this was so innocent and sweet!
Teaching Harry about God has been one of my favorite teaching experiences ever!  I have taught ever age from the babies to adult learners and I have never felt the reward I feel when Harry shows me what he has learned.  I know he has not learned it all from me but, the fact that he is learning about the world and soaking it all in is a learning experience for me!

I was on the phone with Kathy Friday morning and I told her I was needing a Target trip.  That afternoon we were going home from playgroup and Harry said, "Mommy, you need a Target trip."  Guess where we went?
I feel cliche to say but, the last few months have been some of the best days of my life. I have been learning so much about God's plan for me. I have been my kid's mom.  I have always treasured my time with them but, I have taken off my desire to please others and it has benefited me.  I found I was putting energy into people and things that never appreciated that energy and I was not growing!  I am blessed to be surrounded by people who fill my bucket and I pray that He gives me opportunities to fill other buckets!  I pray that my kids learn to be bucket fillers! If Harry knows I want to go to Target, what else does he know!!  Oh the lessons I am learning!

Be Sweet to Your Baby

We are spending the day being sweet to our babies!  Chad and I decided to start V-Day tradition that I would give Harry a Valentine gift and he would give one to Georgia Kelley!  Chad has always treated me to my favorite treats and every year I think he forgets but, he comes through with my favorite box filled with those precious petifors and this year he added cupcakes and a brownie cake!  This right after  I told my mother in law aI was going on a sugar cleanse!

On a not so sweet note, since when were the cartoon Valentine cards not good enough for a three year old's MDO party?  I thought I was doing good to stick a stucker on it!  I did get them minutes before dropping him off; only to pick him up with a huge bag of amazing valentines!  His classmate's moms had given out not only pimped out cards but, baggies, cups, coupons, and yes...embossed cards for the party!  Yes, Harry and I are about to start working on the ones for next year!  We will not be out done...all in the spirit of LOVE! HA!
Have a very special day and make it a lovely week!

Heelarious

Two of my good friends, Amy H and Kim,  gave Georgia Kelley a pair of these "heelarious" shoes and she has finally grown into them!  She wore these to church Sunday and I wore a jacket to match!  She loved them!  Daddy doesn't love them!  He kept taking them off her feet when I was not looking!  I am hoping I can find a perfect outfit for her leapord heels!

They Are Growing Up!

Cousin Brooklyn spent the night and I couldn't help but, go back to our first sleepover with her when she turned one! My how they have grown!  They are getting so funny and just love each other so much! I bought cookies for the super bowl party and I made it very clear that they could not get into the box. I noticed it was quiet and I found them behind the big chair in the living room.  They didn't seem to be afraid of getting in trouble but, they were behind the couch! The prints of proof! They took care of Baby Bear!  Baby bear was the baby and Brooklyn was the mommy and you can guess that Harry was the daddy!  Bear had to go to church with us the next morning because he would be lonely! He wasn't able to go with us until he got his bath. The picture below is them giving the bear a bath in the cradle.  I did Brooklyn's hair after this picture!  Poor thing, I not use to girl hair!
They had so much fun together and they giggled a ton! I felt like we kept laughing at them but, I forgot what was so funny!

Good Night Moon and Runaway Bunny

We got a double treat today!  Mimi took Harry and Brooklyn to see Runnaway Bunny and Good Night Moon at the Walton Arts Center!  I tried to make a link to my posts from Harry's other adventures to shows live at the Walton Arts Center but, I guess I didn't document
them:(  It was an adorable show and they both loved it! They wore their pajamas.  When Harry and Brooklyn saw each other they cheered and gave each other a big hug.  Brooklyn told Harry she loved him and he told her he liked her pajamas!  Georgia Kelley loved it too! She did not make a peep the entire time!  Mimi is always up for taking the kids to entertaining shows!  Brooklyn ended up going home with us and we took a detour to Rick's Bakery!  Brooklyn got a sugar cookie with heart sprinkles and Harry got a football cookie!

A Friendly Visit

Harry got a double dose of fun today when Lindsey and Owen came over to play!  He was so excited!Owen is so laid back and easy to be around! His mom and I have only known each other a short time but, we immediately bonded.  We have a lot in common and I knew she would mesh with my good friend Holly!
Lindsey is also super sweet and loved on GK a lot!  Bree and Cole were here too, but didn't make it in the pictures:(!
I enjoyed hanging out with the mamas!  Holly and Rachel are two of my favorite moms and although we had a lot of distractions we enjoyed talking and catching up! Of course I didn't get a good pics of them!  We can't wait for the next visit!

Georgia Kelley

Here is our little  Valentine! She is growing way too fast! Harry at this age. Ms. Edilma came over to meet Ms. GK!  She taught me how to sew even though she does not speak English!
She acts like she is going to roll over but, hasn't completed a full roll yet!

Harryisms on Women and Mommy

On a regular basis I am either a princess or a pink dragon; Georgia Kelley and I trade out..  Harry is the super hero who saves us. Today I was Super Mom, yes, he really called me that. The only ohter person who calls me that is my friend Kim, talk about a self esteem boost.  On top of being called Super Mom, Harry has started telling my I am pretty.  I had never heard him use that word until he called Jake's bachelorettes pretty girls.  Talk about a tear! Now he calls me and Georgia Kelley pretty girls.  I thought htat he was just saying it in general because he knows he will get a big reaction but, I was wrong.  I had this picture on my Ipod and he looked at it and said "she is nasty"!  I CHEERED!  That's right, my Harry likes girls in hairbows and smocked dresses!
I am also his best friend!  Thought I would note that today because, we all know that will not last long!

Mighty Monday Movie

Some girlfriends and I went to see this amazing movie last night!  It was so inspiring !  A line that stuck with me was, "Forgiveness is liberating"! We all thought that was so powerful.  I want to see it again! Who doesn't love a good Morgan Freeman movie?
