Harryisms

Today, I gave Harry the option to read, play in the backyard, or do my Bible study with me. I have was studying some women of the Bible who are in Jesus' lineage and their stories are not 4 yr old appropriate.  He chose to do my study with me!  I asked him what he wanted to learn about and he said, "Spies" and was shocked when I said OKAY!  He dressed like a "spy" today! We turned to Numbers and read about Joshua and Caleb! It was great to pull out all the details! Harry was doing his own math problems with the two who were good and 10 who lied.  He also helped me look for the word "spies" in the Bible! It was a great Harry moment! One thing we were able to discuss is how God promised lineage to Joshua and Caleb and we talked about his! I know Harry will be a leader in his family one day! Great moment today! Harry chose the Bible! I can't wait until Georgia Kelley's next nap time!

Harryisms

Harry loves his figurines!  They are his favorite things to play it!  I laugh at how Harry has well thought out plan of action for his little men and their purpose!

It made me laugh to see King Saul and another random Bible figure int with all the superheroes!
David on the front line!  Goliath is on the other side with the rest of the bad guys!

We had this big box like thing from our new cable unit and we turned it into an obstacle course for cars.  Inspired by Cars 2!
Georgia Kelley went around shooting us during all this! I guess that is what happens when you live with a big brother.
We started gathering all the stuff Harry wanted for his course. Harry calls his junk his treasure.  His treasure was used in this course!

It got very very detailed!  He is building a tower the cars must knock down!

They were timed at the end!  Notice the wrist band/ring of fire!

There were so many details and Harry could tell you why each piece and person was placed where they were! It was near impossible to get through but, McQueen did it! I had him tell me again what each person did, I wrote some of them down!

A few things Harry has said lately that makes me smile or laugh.
  • In the car the other day he told me that God made turtles for me.  He knows I love turtles and I look at them when we past the pond in our neighborhood.
  • He has been learning new concepts and today he said, "Mom, I feel sorry for someone today. I felt sorry for Jacoby's brother because he hurt eyebrow. I also feel sorry for widows." I was so happy about this then he said, "I hope they can get husbands and grandpas."   His perception is that all widows are grandmothers!  It made me laugh!
  • I asked Chad the other day what all the ingredients were that Elijah and the widow had to make bread.  Chad couldn't answer and Harry yelled "I know, bread, oil, and flour!"  He was right!
  • He sleeps with this trophy my friend Amy gave him and his dad's medals from sports in his past.  He also likes to sleep with Shaggy and a ridiculous amount of "weapons"! It could be a post on its own!
  • When Chad comes home and changes into lounge clothes(usually workout shorts and a t-shirt); Harry changes into the same color shorts and t-shirt!

Harryisms

It has been a long time!  We have to update:
So we are having some interesting comments from some of the girl's moms from his school.  His teacher's said there is a "Harry Fan Club" and he loves it!  I was walking into school very late and a little girl was leaving with her mom, she said, "Mom, I don't want to leave, I will miss Harry so much." Her mom told her she could write him a letteer.  I asked if there were any other Harry's in the school...none!  I was walking Harry to the playground to pick up GK one day early and we were beside a line of girls who were all saying, "Look there is Harry with his mommy." Harry stood behind me and said, "those are the girls who want to marry me".  As soon as we hit the doors to go outside, HArry sprints as fast as he can to GK and hugs her! He knew he had an audience!

He is in a very sweet stage.  He tells me and Georgia Kelley we look cute or pretty every day!  He also helps me decide what to wear sometimes!
On the way to school he said, "Mom, don't you think we should count our blessings?"  If I am annoyed he will say, "mom what are you grateful for?"

Harry

I haven't done a Harry post in a while so, here goes!  These pictures clearly define Harry at this age.  He is into guns, super heroes, being outside, and moving! He also loves reading Dr. Seuss books, playing with his friends, Fun City, playgrounds, gogurts, Sonic, cereal, school, my phone, motorcycles, his tractor, cowboys, horses, cars, race tracks, and that about sums up his favorites.  It has been a big issue getting him to sleep at night. His ritual is reading books, praying, going potty, and then we have to use our finger guns to shoot all the monsters and other wild beasts in his room.  He even sleeps with a dinky old plastic gun.  The cape he has on in the pictures was Chad's when he was a little boy.  Harry wore it to school one day and the teacher said he only took it off to ride the tricycle because, the cape was getting stuck in the wheels. He still has some bad habits: sucking on a paci, changing clothes a couple of times a day, eating junk, not saying please, throwing fits when he doesn't get what he wants, and I am sure there are more but, I can't think of them now.
He also has very sweet qualities that make him special.  He is intuitive.  He can read a situation and is quit to help.  He loves his friends.  He likes to help with Georgia Kelley.  He has a fantastic sense of humor and laughs a lot.  He is calm when he needs to be(except those fits).
Harry LOVES laundry, he begs me to do it every day!  He likes to sort the clothes and he likes to stuff his clothes in his drawers!  It is the oddest thing but, Harry loves it!

Harryism and Mommyisms

After praying:
"God made me Mommy!"
"God gave me to you?"
The way he said this was so innocent and sweet!
Teaching Harry about God has been one of my favorite teaching experiences ever!  I have taught ever age from the babies to adult learners and I have never felt the reward I feel when Harry shows me what he has learned.  I know he has not learned it all from me but, the fact that he is learning about the world and soaking it all in is a learning experience for me!

I was on the phone with Kathy Friday morning and I told her I was needing a Target trip.  That afternoon we were going home from playgroup and Harry said, "Mommy, you need a Target trip."  Guess where we went?
I feel cliche to say but, the last few months have been some of the best days of my life. I have been learning so much about God's plan for me. I have been my kid's mom.  I have always treasured my time with them but, I have taken off my desire to please others and it has benefited me.  I found I was putting energy into people and things that never appreciated that energy and I was not growing!  I am blessed to be surrounded by people who fill my bucket and I pray that He gives me opportunities to fill other buckets!  I pray that my kids learn to be bucket fillers! If Harry knows I want to go to Target, what else does he know!!  Oh the lessons I am learning!

Harryisms on Women and Mommy

On a regular basis I am either a princess or a pink dragon; Georgia Kelley and I trade out..  Harry is the super hero who saves us. Today I was Super Mom, yes, he really called me that. The only ohter person who calls me that is my friend Kim, talk about a self esteem boost.  On top of being called Super Mom, Harry has started telling my I am pretty.  I had never heard him use that word until he called Jake's bachelorettes pretty girls.  Talk about a tear! Now he calls me and Georgia Kelley pretty girls.  I thought htat he was just saying it in general because he knows he will get a big reaction but, I was wrong.  I had this picture on my Ipod and he looked at it and said "she is nasty"!  I CHEERED!  That's right, my Harry likes girls in hairbows and smocked dresses!
I am also his best friend!  Thought I would note that today because, we all know that will not last long!

"My Wolverine Shirt"

I hear this every single morning when we are getting dressed.  As soon as we get home from anything, Harry starts to strip to put on his very favorite shirt, Wolverine!  Harry's Aunt Hannah got this tee for him and boy did she hit the jackpot!  I have bought five other super hero shirts since then and none of them measure up to Wolverine!Harry's favorite thing to do is laundry now, just so he can wear his Wolverine shirt!  It is ridiculous!  If you know me, I am anti-cartoons on any clothes besides pajamas!  I have made an exception for vintage superheros!  He talks about Wolverine, Superman, Spiderman, and Batman all day long!  After Papa told him that policemen shoot bad guys, he wants to be a policeman!  I have been able to get him to eat almost anything by saying that one of the super heroes eat it!  He loves to make his mean super hero face! We went to the library last week and he was determined to get books with bad guys in them.  All the librarian could find was Incredible Hulk books!  I was so embarrassed to be checking out such poor literature!  Harry has been reading his hulk books to Georgia Kelley and telling her she is the princess that the supers save!  He also is in love with the soap despensers and loopas that some of his grands got him,  only because they are Hulk!  Right now he is wearing pirate pants and the Wolverine shirt! He also does not like jeans...bug!  I think this whole changing clothes things started when he picked up on Chad coming home everyday and changing!  Harry thinks he has to do that too!  I am not giving in just yet to the t-shirts and warm up pants outfits!  Next are pictures of him in his red cap that Chad had when he was a little boy!  He wears it pretty often too!

Harryism on Heaven

"Does God live up above the clouds?  Does he get clouds in his eyes?"
In a very upset voice and his shoulders shrugged, "I can't go to Heaven because I don't know how to fly yet!"
"Can I take my backpack to Heaven?"
"Can I sit in God's lap?"  This after sitting in Santa's lap.

Harryisms About Georgia Kelley

Me to GK: " Hey sweetheart"
Harry to me: "She is not your sweetheart, she is my sweetheart."

Harry to me: "Georgia Kelley wants a baby doll house from Santa; she also wants a race track."

Harry talking to himself: "I keep bad guys away from Georgia Kelley, I don't like bad guys."

Harry to me:  "Mommy!  Georgia Kelley is laughing!
Me: What is she laughing at? You?
Harry:  "No, she is laughing at the sky, the ceiling, the fan.
She is being a big girl because she is not crying!"  He says this in a very excited voice!
Me: "You should tell her you are proud of her for being a big girl."
Harry: "No, she can't talk to me."  He said that in a tone like I should know that.

Chad to Georgia Kelley: "Hey you precious girl."
Harry to Georgia Kelley :  "Hey you precious girl."  In the exact same high pitched tone!

Harry to me: 'Mommy, I like bears."
Me: "I like Panda Bears; and I bet Georgia Kelley likes bears too."
Harry: "No she is scared of bears; bears are scary; she likes baby ducks."

Our Harry

LovingExcitedGoofyI had a few minutes to spend with Harry while Georgia Kelley was taking a cat nap.  I took advantage of capturing his personality with the camera.  InquisitiveCuriousImaginativeInnocentWildDeterminedHe wanted me to quit taking pictures of him and take them of his toys!  He placed them and I shot them. It was actually fun!Rambunctious

Harryisms and Another Paci Lover

Harry got his tree back up in his room and told Chad he wanted a big one!  His tree has a mixture of his ornaments and Chad's from when he was a kid!Today Harry said he wanted to wear the shirt with the sandwich on it.  He has been talking about his birthday cake a lot to me lately! I asked for it.  The other day, when I was ordering it, he wanted a motorcycle, car, horse, soccer ball, football, basketball, baseball, and a lunch box on it.  Today he said he wanted a monster, flowers, rocks, sticks, and a lunch box!   I may be calling and asking for a plain white cake!  Just kidding but, seriously we have a fickle child!Guess who loves the paci?  She is taking after her big brother and it is bittersweet!  Lately it is more sweet because, it really does keep her content.  The bitter part is the fact that we have been a slave to the paci for three years and I do not want to go for another three.  Harry is giving his pacis to Santa's reindeer.  This idea is from our friends Matt and Holly...hopefully it will work!

Harry Gets Stuck

What makes this funny is that Harry really got his feelings hurt when we watched it and I laughed. He told me to not ever play it again!

Harry Gets His Groove On

It may be a parent thing, but we think our child is so funny! Here he is at Kia's wedding breaking it down . The funny thing is that this video was taken at the end of the night! He had been dancing long before this video was taken! Don't you think he should have a dance party for his birthday?

Drivers Beware

I have been super motivated to post more lately, can you tell? I get blogger burn out quite a bit. I hope I can keep this going!
Harry got a "big boy" bicycle this weekend! As if he needed another riding toy; I got the bike and helmet for $15 at a consignment sale. I am a sucker for riding toys....strange! I got it for him on Thursday and he was so excited he wore the helmet home! He put it on himself. He jumped on and had a few problems getting the peddles going. That same night he was headed to Mimi and Papa's house for a visit. He wanted to take his bike and lucky for me Tyler and Papa taught him how to ride efficiently! He is a master now, with training wheels of course!
These are pictures of him just starting out! His helmet was a bit big. When Chad got home he worked out all the kinks! I think Harry was more excited to show Chad than riding! Chad was out of town to see the first independent rides.
This picture is my favorite. Harry came in while he and Chad were outside and told me he had to have his baseball helmet. He was acting like it was life or death. He put it on and told me that was how he was going to ride his bike! When I tried to take pictures he whined, "I don't want to say cheese anymore!" He hates getting his picture made! Isn't that annoying!
