Not What It Seems

Let's start with Thanksgiving! I bought three chevron dresses form the same website that ALL ripped in the exact same place in a matter of minutes! I also got to Aztec like dresses from the same sight....same problem! I ended up sending back seven dresses! I would hate on the website but their customer service was so wonderful, I can't even hate! I am just so sad I can't trust them because these dresses were sooo cute! I am hopeful my next dress online purchase will not be the same experience!
Another "not what it seems" are these two precious girls carefully putting on makeup!

 Harry helping!
This does not look careful;) As careful as she was and she looks like she hit a doorknob!

These two girls have become two of my tried and true! I would NEVER in a million years have thought we would be as close as we are. I don't really know how it happened but, it was not one sided and it fell together very natural.  I just adore them. I can always depend on Ashley and Amy to save the day...or party:) These girls have good hearts, just gold!  Not what it seemed...say two years ago.

Mentored and Influenced

I spent a nice night with two of my former students from Harding who are now active in the schools in NWA!  Both are bright, Godly, and will be or are amazing teachers. I don't belive I have anything to offer them but they have asked for my "wisdom" if you will in a mentor relationship.  One of them teaches at Shiloh and the other soon will. I have to say, this gives Shiloh a whole new meaning to me. I say this because, I selfishly want these women in the public schools because they will make a difference in kids lives but, they have a passion for Christian education.  In saything that I wanted to do a post on my mentors. God has truly guided my path in life with some amazing mentors. I have lived by this verse:

Proverbs 12:15 " Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others. "
I may even say it is a fault because I value others opinions too much and at times the wrong people. There are women and men in my past that have been huge influences in my life and there are a few women today who I seek counsel and mentor ship from. This is a post for them.  The best is for last but I am starting with as far as I can remember taking advice.
Nancy (woman on the right) was who I worked for all through high school. I babysat for this precious family one a weekly basis! I would choose babysitting over hanging with my friends! I LOVED this family! They have a son(not pictured)! I was crazy about their two children. A boy and a girl! I even wanted to name my daughter after Caroline! Nancy doesn't know but I watched everything she did! She was such a loving mother and faithful honoring wife! She was very generous with me too! I wore her Lilly dresses to functions...they barely fit...she is tiny!  I think my adventurous nature with my children come from watching her! She worked part time and would come home and make everything fun for them! She gave her kids choices when other moms would not.  She is an amazing mother! I loved working for and with her! I tell people her kids were my anti drug in high school!

Mom: I put her second because I didn't really listen to her until college! She really does have the best advice when dealing with everyday struggles and people!  She doesn't do anything half way and has a very strong work ethic that I admire. She isn't a matronly mom and I am so glad because it makes her so much more relatable. She knows me best and she loves me anyway! She is always willing to help me sharpen my skills in handling "life". I am a better women because of my mother and her constant support! I get three in one with her  mom, mentor, and best friend.
Sandy instantly became my friend when I met her! She is obviously Chad's mom and I loved Chad so much I was adamant I get to know and mimic a women who raised such a wonderful man! To be honest she raised three amazing kids. It says a lot to have three kids that are God seekers. She is so fun, accepting, and thoughtful. I would love to be half as thoughtful as her! She thinks of others before herself. I can't tell you how many times she has offered to take my kids on night that she would probably love to rest just so Chad and I could have a date night. I adore and love my mother in law and hope to be like her when I am grand! I must note that this is not a bragging post on her, I get on her nerves and vice versa but, they are way below the norm for most in laws(at least on my part:)!
Marilyn(women on Left, I don't know the one on the R)! Marilyn was an elder's wife at our church when we first moved into this area. She immediately got me involved in church when I would have been very comfortable not being active! I seriously was so engulfed in being a wife and my job that those two things alone consumed me.  Marilyn has taught me how to deal with people and the importance of church involvement. At dinner one night with my family over Thanksgiving we did an "advice for Emily" around the table and my one piece was "Get involved in a church". I feel like the more involved I get the more compassion I feel, the less judgemental I get, and I have become  less easily annoyed. It doesn't make sense but, it is true! I have found talents in myself I never knew I had and I truly don't believe I would be this deep involved with my church family if it wasn't for Marilyn! I love her and miss her dearly.
Laurie is one of my new friends, I would say we have been good friends for a good three years. The best way to describe her is a woman of wisdom! We are doing a study on Proverbs in my Wednesday morning Bible class and every time she days anything that makes a women wise, I think of Laurie! Laurie is beautiful and walks with class but, that does not make her so influential to me. She is genuinely kind to EVERYONE! I am talking everyone! If someone talks too much, is too loud, too quiet, too negative...Laurie is still nice to them...and does not act annoyed! Laurie is NOT any of those things but you know those people that just bug us and take up too much of "our" time....Laurie loves them! She loves them and makes them feel important! She encourages everyone that comes in contact with her. She is graceful and extremely postive. I seriously want to be just like Laurie. Laurie walks the walk Christians should be walking! Her children are the same way! I say all the time I want GK to be like her Shelby and Harry to be like her Cameron! Laurie is real, there is not "fakeness" to her at all.
Kathy is probably one I talk about the most because she teaches me the most! She also has watered this seed of passion for God's word that may not have grown as much without her. She spends a large amount of time with me guiding me through God's Word. I am understanding it like never before. We love each other. It is a funny thing, we can be in a room and not talk at all but glance and say a million things! I think we have grown to appreciate each other. She is the older women that Timothy talks about that mentors me. It is not just a day to day what is going on mentorship, it is a complete Biblical mentorship. If there is anything going on that I can't understand she immediately says, "what does God's word say about that?"  That has changed everything! She has taught me how to teach the Bible...using THE BIBLE! Imagine that! I say that because so many times we are taught the Bible through a paraphrased version or commentary books. It is a very freeing feeling to know the Bible better but at the same time I feel so ignorant. She has helped me have more confidence in God's word. I can't say enough about how influential she is to me. I pray that one day  I can be like Kathy and when my kids come to me with an issue I can say "What does the Bible say about that?" and go immediately. She is one amazing women and the best teacher I have ever had.
The person who has mentored me and loved me uncondionally through the time I was born was for sure my Grandmother. My mom was a wonderful mom but, I didn't seek her counsel like I did Grandmothers. I know I have written about her so much in this blog so I am not going to keep on. She has taught me so many life lessons in one sentence that would have taken me a life time to learn. She loved everyone equally and unconditionally, I think I just tapped into her resource of knowledge more then some of the other grands. I also chose to spend more time with her. I miss her dearly and always want to call her and tell her something that has happened to me or the kids. She appreciated so many things that others would not find interesting. I am grateful everyday for her legacy.

I didn't mention the Lincolns or Shacklefords from Wyldewood...I think I am just sticking with women in this post. Excuse the lazy writing...just writing what comes to mind without revision.

Bikes and Bubbles....boring??

Like the rest of NWA, we spent last week outside! I am one of those mothers who lets their kids do whatever they want!  Well, they get to pick one thing they want to do that day and we work the schedule to make it happen.  It is always the same thing..Harry wants to ride his bike outside and Georgia Kelley wants to read books! I am afraid the winter wishes are going to be a bit more messy! We were outside one afternoon and our darling friends came over with bubbles!

Harry has been having bike issues! Mark my words...we will never buy a used or cheap bike for Harry again! His bike quit us twice in the middle of two trails!  We got him a new bike on Saturday morning and took a trip to the bike park...where he had been wanting to go for three days!  He loved it there!

Georgia Kelley found slides out of the ramps!
Boring...I know these little posts may be a bit borning but, I love them! I love looking back on my blog from when Harry was little and and I wrote about random things we had done during the week! I would have forgotten if I hadn't posted them!  I feel like this blog  has blessed my life and I know my children will enjoy it one day.

Georgia on My Mind

Georgia Kelley has hit the twos in full force and are just hanging on! She is probably the sweetest thing that ever hit our house! She has her quirks but she really does make me smile all the time! Even in the morning when I ask her what she wants for breakfast, she cocks her head, tucks her chin, and with a huge grin she says "ancakes"! It just melts me! She amazes me with the little things she does! Like wanting me to sleep with her!

I took these when she woke up the other morning! Her room was  mess and she had her baby, Tutu, and Mimi(blanket)! She kisses them and treats the like family! Tutu gets to eat with us!

 How sweet is this!
I walked in and found this mess! She was reading to her babies! All her books were pulled out and on her bed! I love me reader!

Then she got excited and fed her babies!
She also get cranky! This is cranky face and she did not want her picture taken!

She helps me do everything in the kitchen! I took the trash out and when I walked in she was trying to put a bag in the can! She is so thoughtful! I am so crazy about this child! I love her to pieces! Georgia Kelley is such a huge blessing to me!

Hot Cocoa/Tea Party

My darling aunt came over last week while she was in town. She and my mom were able to come for just a minute and my aunt brought some hot chocolate for the kids! They were more than eager to drink it so, they decided to have a little cocoa party! My aunt gave me by grandmother's dishes and they came with a tea set! The kids loved the production of it and I loved my kids spending time with my aunt!

Notice the Xmas decor in the wrong place! I got some stuff after Xmas and we were about to take all the rest down, I was throwing it in piles!

Such a fun visit! Harry loves to be goofy!  So funny!

Shallow and Deep Resolutions

What did I do on New Years? I ordered pizza and buffalo wings and stayed at home all weekend by myself sick! I was miserably sick and the family went to Memaw's house! I just couldn't make the trip. I have been home all weekend alone! I watched three movies, read a book, studied, worked, and now that I am feeling better I may get some cleaning done.  I missed spending time with Memaw and Annie. I hate that we all couldn't be together this holiday.  Chad took the kids with Sandy and Harry and I have been getting the best videos all weekend! They seem to have fun without me...imagine that!

Who is to say what is important and what is not important in one's resolution. Some would say to make a resolution to be  skinnier is "shallow" and one would say that to be a "better person" is subjective. I am going to write my resolutions and then you can judge for yourself...this is a blog...everyone judges blogs. That should be a resolution...not to judge! HA!

1. To not be the fattest bridesmaid in my sister's wedding! This includes clean eating and more gym.
2. I feel like 1. interrupts my 2. I love spending time with my kids doing activities and adventures. The best time to do them is during the best gym time. I plan on figuring out how to seize the time I have with my kids and go to the gym daily.  Oh, how I love spending my time with Harry and Georgia Kelley.
3. To constantly pray and model that my kids be a light. That is really all I want. I just want my kids to be a light when they get big.  I am going to work on modelling that more. This may come with some pain. I say pain because I may have to cut some things to keep the darkness out.
4.  To cook more and eat out less.
5. To juggle work and home better.
6. To love on my husband more and make in the center of attention when he gets home.  He seems to make our kids the center of attention when he gets home.
7. To continue my in depth study of the OT. I took all my Bible classes in college on the NT and how to teach children the Bible. Now I am getting this strong foundation on the OT and it is making the NT so much more clear!  Although, the more I read the more ignorant I feel!
8. To spend at least thirty minutes a day studying God's word with Harry. I usually use Georgia Kelley's nap time to get things done and occasionally spend QT time with Harry teaching...I want to switch this!
9. Redecorate Harry's room.
10. Find a swimsuit I like!
There a few other things I wouldn't mind happening but I am going to count my blessings now!  We had a wonderful 2011 and I love this time in life.

Christmas Celebrations

Santa came to our house a day early!
Harry wanted a lot of things this year but most of all he wanted a DS...I accidentally got him the 3DS because I am so out of the gaming world!  He loves it and we have set major rules for it. I heard that kids who play video games (obviously too much) are more likely to be addicted to pornography.  I also know there is a direct correlation with ADD and being a teacher, you know the kids who over do it on the video games. On the other hand, I want him to be tech savvy and I do not think they are the devil...obviously..we bought him one!  HA! He loved it along with a few other exciting toys and clothes!  He is really into spies, pirates, soccer, Legos!  He was showered with them all! I have even been playing with his Legos and Mario Cart 7 on the DS is so much fun!
Georgia Kelley asked Santa for a baby and Elmo book! Harry got her a baby with his own money and Santa brought her a fake cat and make up!

A make up artist in her future?
We spent Christmas Eve and day at my parent's house! We tried our best to recreate the traditions we had going to my grandmothers and for the most part..it worked.  The kids all hearing the reindeer prancing on the roof and jingle bells. They also saw sleigh lights through the window!

THey came out and Santa had brought them more presents!

Then we switched gifts with everyone!
Georgia Kelley was obsessed with her "sick" baby that Bobo picked out for her!

Georgia Kelley loved her scarf from Emmy!
Elmo dress from Paul and Tessa! She also got a cute Elmo shirt that she is obsessed with from Ashley!  I love it when people put thought and inquiry into gifts!  I been studying about the 3 wise men and how meaningful the gifts they got for Jesus were! I use to think it was odd they would give Mary such nice gifts, when she  would obviously want diapers or a nice blanket or even a gift card to a hotel! Now I realize how meaningful they are! I am sure everyone already knew that!
They were posing with the big gift from Emily to all of them!

It was really cute when all the girls wanted Emily to do their hair on Sunday morning! I was a bit bummed because she didn't have time to do mine too!

On our way home, we stopped to say hi to my grandparents! How cute are they!

Grandmother was not feeling well so they didn't give her big hugs!
We actually spent Christmas Eve Eve at the Wares and then did Christmas night at their house!  This gingerbread house was driving me NUTS!  Notice Georgia Kelley eating the roof!
My Mallory was sick...poor baby!  I look really sad for her huh?
They kids were so happy unwrapping their gifts!  So sweet!

My favorite thing is the "lefty righty" game. Sandy gets a whole bunch of gift cards and after we play the game, we switch! We left with 2 from Table Mesa, movies, and School Squared!  The School Squared is already spent and we are saving the other three for a date night!  Good times!

It was a wonderful Christmas! I love both of our families more and more each year!  We have so much fun together! I am really "sick" that I am not with them all in El Dorado because I am "sick".  I am sitting the couch with a big ole roll of toilet paper (half wadded on the floor)! I am drugged up but just miserable. I hope to make it up to Memaw really soon!
