I had the blessing of going to the Woman Walking with God conference in Wichita, Kansas with some friends from church. My darling friend Kim invited me. She is one of those friends that I knew when we met we would be tight. We hit it off at the beginning and just get each other. She is a faithful lover of God and I admire that in her so much. She is what I call a God chaser and not afraid to share it with anyone. She asked me a few months back and I was so on board because I was feeling the need for spiritual healing!
Marla and Megan went too and I just loved getting to know them better! We really all connected on a deeper level and it was so refreshing to spend two days with girls who desire to serve the Lord. My good friend Erin met us there and I must say I loved having her sitting by me! Erin and I never hold back when we talk! I love our deep relationship...we are so over surface chat! Kathy is on the far R in the picture below and she hosted our stay! She pulled out all the stops to make our trip feel special! I was overwhelmed with the love and sweetness she bestowed on us!
My friend Kim below!
On more spiritual note, I learned so much! The theme was leaving a legacy and I feel very passionate about showing my kids how to be experience, not just know about Christ. I loved the the insight of the amazing speakers! I really loved that the keynote speaker was the mom of mine and Chad's friends in college and the MIL of one of my other good friends in college! I know she knows what she is talking about!
Joneal Kirby spoke on 1st, 2nd and 3rd Hand faith that was very revealing. I had heard about it at a Bible study I did at another church here but, she elaborated. Bruce Wilkerson wrote a book on the topic and it goes something like this:
1st Hand Christians experience God, they are very comfortable sharing and discussing their faith in Christ to anyone any time. As Christians we must be confrontational with our love for Christ. EASY to follow
2nd. Hand Christians: complacent in the church, believe in God because it was what they were taught, do the right things, but don't ask them why or about their faith because it makes them uncomfortable. They let other tell them about the Bible instead of looking for themselves. Not on fire..
YOU CAN NOT FOLLOW a 2nd Hand christian. Which shows that their kids are more likely going to be...
3rd Hand: leaving the church rapidly 6/10 kids involved in church growing up are leaving and not staying faithful...buying into culture's lies
How to be a 1st Hand Christian:
Read and Study scripture
When there is any question...go to scripture
Prayer: intimate personal and ongoing
Be a blessing to someone every day
Get involved with someone in need
Think of someone every day
Be conscious about your attitude and words everyday
Call and Reach out....show love...especially to someone who you think may be mad at you
Be the bigger mature person to say "let's get past this conflict"
Do the right thing (someone is following you)
Prov. 31 woman does the right thing against all odds.
Be The Woman: A woman covered by grace, loving others, and totally devoted to JC, sold out and on fire for Him, leading her family in faith.
Titus 2 Woman
These verses on weak women really hit me: 2 Timothy 3:1-6! She went on to talk about how fellowship with our age and stage is not Biblical but, the Bible directs us to spend time with wise older woman. I love that! I figure since most of my lunch dates are woman 5-20 years older than me then I have this one covered. I probably need to reach out to the younger girls.
Older women are untapped resources!
Some other notes I have are "Our influence counts. We are someone's older generation. What we do and say impacts the next generation." "The emotional stress a child has when they live in a house of fighting is tremendous"
. I wish so badly more parents knew that!
Shannon Herman also spoke and said some really good things as well! She reminded us that we are being watched and to walk in prayer with friends. She also hit some great points on self esteem and balance in our legacy for children! All great reminders to keep in the word and pray pray pray!
I also loved Latayne Scott who spokle on Examining our Legacy! She talked about how our relationship with God is more important than our kids and gave some practical ways to pass the spiritual baton:
-Memorize scripture with your kids
-Take kids to nursing homes to love on others
-Read the Bible through with your kids
-Have your kids see you pray on your knees
"If you feel weak you are the prime candidate for His will!" Loved that!
Well, there are my notes...I figure if I rewrote them I would remember them better!
